Hi Eliza, the aircraft has a what is called a Bearing Swivel Module, it directs the jet engine exhaust downwards allowing the aircraft to land vertically (It’s cal,ed Thrust Vectoring), there is also a lift fan at the forward of the aircraft acting as a counter balance. This aircraft has a vertical land and short takeoff ability so it can operate from aircraft carriers. The engine parts are coated with salt resistance materials for the Marine environment. I am currently working the the team coating the deck of the aircraft carrier to allow the jet to land vertically on the ship. Have a good weekend.
